Concerning Prismatics in Art

The innovatory technique of Prismatic light in colour was first shown as a one woman exhibition for the Brighton Festival in 1990, and was a breakthrough in the language of colour from a two dimentional surface in terms of pigments to prismatic colour in it's essence, as light itself, a search which artists have persued assiduously from the impressionists to the pointillists.

Yet light organically created from within the picture plane has always remained illusive until now, when a means has at last been found.

By the simple concept of the light prism as source of the light colour spectrum, a structured mirror like background was evolved consisting of multiple prisms over which was created on glass or perspex an image painted in transparent colour.

The significance or this development cannot be underestimated, since the illusion of light so perfectly expressed in the paintings of the past can now be actualised as a living reality in the future of painting.
